This multi-phase project started as a vision to create a dynamic, permanent campus for Marco Island Academy, a Public Charter School. The site presented challenges because of it's proximity to a protected wetland area and limited acerage but the Design Team creatively viewed the limitations as design parameters to work within. The campus master plan includes a main Arts & Athletics building housing all school functions for 400 students, an artificial turf soccer field, concession / locker room building, and a sports performance building for fitness training. The new lobby entrance features a faceted glass facade and an open, double height gathering space. A regulation size basketball court and performing stage serves both school and community events. The mission of Marco Island Academy "is to provide a student-centered, well-rounded, interdisciplinary education."
